5-BULLET FRIDAY – June 6, 2025
Enjoy this week’s issue of 5-Bullet Friday!
#1 – QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Concentration is a fine antidote to anxiety.” – Jack Nicklaus
#2 – DENVER HOUSING MARKET FAVORS BUYERS- BUT PRICES REMAIN HIGH
Metro Denver has shifted into a buyer’s market with over 4,800 more sellers than buyers — a 42% gap, the widest on record according to Redfin. That’s significantly above the national average of 33.7% and a stark contrast from the bidding wars of recent years. Still, the high median sale price of $585,046 keeps homeownership out of reach for many. With nearly 14,000 unsold listings, the most in over a decade, buyers have options — but they’ll need deep pockets.
#3 – ROCKIES SWEEP MARKINS, END DISMAL STRETCH WITH A BURST OF HOPE
After a historically rough start to the 2025 season, the Colorado Rockies finally have something to smile about. This week in Miami, the team put together their best stretch of the year, sweeping the Marlins in a three-game series — their first sweep in over a year and first in South Florida in 19 years. The bullpen was the backbone of the effort, pitching 15.1 innings without allowing an earned run, while slugger Hunter Goodman carried the offense, going 7-for-14 with three home runs, two doubles, and a triple. Veteran Kyle Freeland earned his first win of the season with 6.1 solid innings in the finale, backed by strong defensive plays and timely hits from Jordan Beck and Brenton Doyle. With the sweep, Colorado improves to 12-50 and, while the road ahead is still steep, this week offered a spark of hope for Rockies fans and a reminder that momentum can shift — even in a season as tough as this one.
#4 – MIND DIET LINKED TO LOWER DEMENTIA RISK, EVEN WHEN ADOPTED LATER IN LIFE
A new study finds that following the MIND diet—even starting later in life—significantly reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. This diet, which blends the Mediterranean and DASH diets, emphasizes leafy greens, whole grains, berries, nuts, olive oil, and fish, and was found to be more effective for brain health than other healthy eating patterns. Researchers analyzed data from nearly 93,000 diverse participants and found that those with higher MIND diet scores had up to a 25% lower risk of dementia, with benefits seen across all age and racial groups. Experts say it’s never too late to improve your diet for long-term brain and overall health.
