#1 – QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.” – Wade Boggs

#2 – SIX BOLD SOLUTIONS TO TACKLE COLORADO’S HOUSING AFFORDABILITY CRISIS

A new report from Mile High United Way, BuildStrong Foundation, and McKinsey & Company reveals that 51% of Colorado renters and 21% of homeowners are cost-burdened, meaning they spend over 30% of their income on housing. To combat this, the report outlines six potential solutions: speeding up plan reviews and permitting through technology, embracing innovative construction methods like modular housing, optimizing and coordinating funding across agencies, reforming complex land-use regulations, strengthening the construction workforce to address a projected 45,000-worker shortage by 2027, and expanding financing tools to boost homeownership. Together, these solutions represent a coordinated, hopeful path forward for making housing more affordable and accessible across Colorado.

#3 – DENVER RANKS 5TH IN NATIONAL FITNESS INDEX

Denver has climbed to 5th place in the 2025 ACSM American Fitness Index, up two spots from last year, highlighting its growing reputation as a top U.S. city for health and fitness. The ranking reflects improvements in health behaviors like increased physical activity and reduced smoking rates, along with a boost in park funding. However, challenges like poor air quality—driven by drought and wildfires—remain a concern. While Denver shines, the national report also notes declines in air quality, food insecurity, and self-reported health. Other Colorado cities in the top 100 include Aurora (27) and Colorado Springs (37), with Arlington, VA taking the top spot.

#4 – ETHAN HOLLIDAY MAKES HISTORY: ROCKIES SIGN TOP PROSPECT WITH RECORD $9M BONUS

Ethan Holliday, an 18-year-old shortstop from Stillwater, Oklahoma—and son of Rockies legend Matt Holliday and younger brother of MLB’s Jackson Holliday—has signed a minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies that includes a record-breaking $9 million bonus for a high school draftee under the current system. Selected No. 4 overall in the amateur draft and ranked as MLB Pipeline’s top prospect, Holliday’s bonus matches the fourth highest since 2012 and surpasses previous high school signing records, including those set by his own brother.
